VICTOR S. LEE

I am a MBA Computer Information Systems professional turned bodyworker.  I practice the art of Tui-Na, which works on your soft tissues (muscles, ligaments, tendons, sinews, joint capsules, fascia, cartilage, subcutaneous tissues) and pressure points using manual manipulations. My tui-na style comprises of but not limited to rhythmic compression, rocking, forearm kneading, elbow pressing, myofascial release movement, and pressure points. Other techniques that I practice are Swedish, Hot Stone, Pregnancy, Deep Tissue, and Meridian Foot Reflexology. I can also do 30-Minute Corporate Chair Tui-Na.

I am a graduate of New York College of Health Professions, which specializes in massage therapy and acupuncture. I studied Traditional Chinese Medicine under two licensed acupuncturists in the United States and a tui-na master from China. I am a nationally certified massage therapist by NCBTMB, New York State Licensed Massage Therapist,  and a member of the American Massage Therapy Association.

Tui-Na is part of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) from China.  In China, it is considered as one form of medical solution, along with acupuncture and herbology.  The word tui-na stands for “push” and “grasp”, a key description of the principles behind the technique.  Tui-Na is further divided into acupressure points manipulations and bone-setting realignment techniques.  (Tui-Na practitioners in the U.S. do not practice bone-setting techniques.)  Tui-Na manipulation of pressure points is different from acupuncture, which uses needles to stimulate  pressure points in your body.  There  are 361 pressure points in your body and my Tui-Na method  reaches over 130 major pressure points. Acupressure is the physical form of the science of acupuncture.

Tui-Na practitioners manipulate  acupressure points along various meridian channels to balance the Qi flow in your body. Benefits include but not limited to  rejuvenating the body and relieving stress, body tension, foot pain, backaches, shoulder pain, neck aches, insomnia,  headaches, or fatigue. Although this is a common practice in China, only in recent years has modern medicine looked into as an alternative healing method.  The client is fully clothed during the session.  Medical conditions include but not limited to frozen shoulder, carpal tunnel syndrome, sciatica, bell palsy, tennis elbow, golfer elbow, plantar fasciitis, disc herniation, and torticollis can benefit from tui-na therapy.

Tui-Na practitioners work pre-dominantly with the 12 meridians of Tendino-Muscular Channel: Lung (LU), Large Intestine (LI),  Stomach (ST), Spleen (SP), Heart (HT), Small Intestine (SI), Bladder (BL), Kidney (KD), Pericardium (PC), San Jiao (SJ),  Gall Bladder (GB), and Liver (LIV).  Additional channels include the Conception Vessel (CV/Ren) and Governing Vessel (GV/DU).
